Why is Mercedes called Maybach?
In 1902 entrepreneur Emil Jellinek asked DMG to allow him to sell DMG cars. Jellinek named a model of DMG cars after the name of his daughter, Mercedes. The “DMG Mercedes”. Wilhelm Maybach of DMG passed and his son Karl Maybach decided to make cars under their own brand, Maybach. Mercedes was simply a model of car made by DMG, sold by Jellinek, named after Jelinek’s daughter.
