Who Owns Mercedes-Benz? Daimler AG, a multinational automotive corporation, is the parent company of Mercedes-Benz. Daimler AG was formed in 1998 through the merger of Daimler-Benz AG and Chrysler Corporation. However, in 2007, Daimler AG sold its Chrysler division, focusing solely on the Mercedes-Benz brand. Taking advancing globalisation into account, among other things car production was taken up in Tuscaloosa in 1995, and in 1998 the merger with Chrysler Corporation to form DaimlerChrysler AG was announced. The intention of the merger was to safeguard the long-term competitiveness of the companies involved.
